The purpose for the natural born requirement for president was to make sure the president's loyalty was to the U.S., and not to a foreign nation.

However, his birth on American soil automatically made him a U.S. citizen. For more than a century, Mexican women crossed into the U.S. while in labor just so their children would be U.S. citizens. it still goes on. Just check any border town e.r.

Obama does not care about the law. In his mind, Obama IS the law. In the 60's, a m an named Romney ran for president. He was criticized because he was born outside the United States to American citizens. However, by statute, that made him a "natural born American citizen".I do not think it matters where Obama was born. If I could choose between "natural born citizen" Obama or Austrian born Shwarzeneger, the country would be better off with the Austrian.
