NRA "Solutions" Are Straight Out of Hollywood

I am a member of the NRA however I do not agree with Wayne LaPierre. I don't want to see government agents posted at schools. But I think your description of armed guards as being sitting ducks is absurd. A "gun-free" is a shooting gallery and makes anyone in it a "sitting duck."

With you on your points. Federally funded guards in our elementary (or otherwise) schools is a clunky, one-size fits all solution. I was disappointed in this ask from the NRA last Friday. The only caveat is that there is no way congress will pass or Obama will sign such legislation. Obama and the senate, and perhaps even the house would rather consider gun/magazine/ammunition regulation. While armed guards would be better than that, they are not the right answer.

Why not? There already are government agents in public schools; they're called teachers.

That's the excuse libturds used to deny students to be able to express their religion.

You know there's no ban against religion in school, just that teachers can't lead a prayer? The students, and teacher, are completely free to gather before class, during breaks etc and have whatever type of prayer they want?

Ignorant much.
There may not be a formal ban-but try leading a prayer in school. You will find there is one.

Its parents responsibility to teach children to pray.

State goverment, not Federal. I think that's important as a distinction.

Voluntary gatherings are permitted, but even 2 decades ago, when my high school attempted to begin one, it was difficult to get a teacher to 'sponsor' the group in their room. They were under enormous pressure not to touch religious (especially Christian) clubs as the ACLU and union were calling that 'espousing/endorsing' religion with state-funded resources (the lit and heated room)

This is why religious observance at schools has gone to "meet you at the pole" events. No lights, no heat. I'm suprised the ACLU hasn't complained that the state provides the flag pole, but then again, they're trying to get the flag removed, so they anticipate victory from a different avenue.

After a tragedy like the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre in Newtown, Conn., the injection of anything short of seriousness into the subsequent public discourse about guns is touchy. But last week, the National Rifle Association blasted numerous rounds into that particular barrier with NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre's mouth.

The organization's hysteric solution to gun violence in America is to put designated sitting ducks -- er, "armed police officers" -- in every American school. Apparently the secret is now out that such places are "gun-free," and LaPierre says that "(gun-free school zones) tell every insane killer in America...
