Hey, good point!
This is a great column! It explains the debacle of the minimum wage clearly and concisely--well done. Mr. Jackson is absolutely correct, and he has allies in Walter Williams and Thomas Sowell. Together, these men represent the brain trust of economics and how it affects the black population. In addition to eliminating the minimum wage, let's: - De-regulate the oil industry - De-regulate the banking industry - Eliminate the EPA - Eliminate the Dept of Education, USDA, Dept. of Energy - Repeal the 16th and 17th Amendments to the Constitution - Cut capital gains taxes by 50% - And, most of all, eliminate Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid !

An Open Letter to Ms. Hughes

Good for you, McCormick! I, too, thought Hughes' column was smug and pointless. Sarah Palin is the real deal--smart, classy, politically astute--and yes, easy on the eyes!

Wait a minute...you're upset with Sarah Palin because she didn't stop and make "nice nice" with you? Seriously? Do you consider yourself THAT important?
Shawn--that's called a "strawman" argument. It's a fallacy of logic that my 13 year-old daughter could refute. Don't accept the premise.

How the NRA Stole Christmas

Talk about a yawner--this column is a big yawn. Should the NRA have come out the next day with a statement? Hell, we were all still reeling from the massacre then. And Crystal blames our faulty diagnosis of mental illness. Oh pull-leez! I'm so sick and tired of hearing that one. What are we supposed to do? Confine every child who is a little quirky? Suspend habeas corpus for an adult who displays even the least bit of erratic behavior because he might "go off?" Next!

Thoughts on Secession

21st_century_Viking Wrote: Nov 27, 2012 2:36 PM
Wrong! The American Revolution was a war of secession--independence from Britain...and we won that one. The American Civil War was a war of secession--independence from the United States...and we lost. One win and one loss--we need a rubber match to decide what is settled. Nothing was conclusively settled 150 years ago. "A little revolution now and then is a good thing." -- Thomas Jefferson Hear, hear!

Even Murchison is doing it !! He's already decided that secession will never go anywhere, so just stop talking about it. He's already decided its pointless. What if Jefferson and Washington and Patrick Henry had decided it was pointless and just said "suck it up and deal with it!" We wouldn't have the United States of America. They managed to secede from the British Empire with virtually no help from their Congress. We can secede--and should! If Texas goes (or any state for that matter), I go with her. It's not only American, it's morally correct to do so.

Why is talk of secession "overheated" and "emotional?" Whenever there's talk of secession, it always brings laughs and rolling eyes and referred to as crazy-talk. The American colonies seceded from the British Empire and no one seems to think THAT was a bad idea. I fully support secession--southern or anyone else--if it means a FREE and CONSTITUTIONAL government. If Texas goes, I go with her--and I'm from Ohio!
