The latest findings support Jacoby. Edge.org currently has a most interesting article by Joseph Henrich, Canada Research Chair in Culture, Cognition and Coevolution at University of British Columbia, "How Culture Drove Human Evolotution." He states research found that those nations of people adhering to a world religion are more honest, more generous, more accepting of strangers, believed more in free markets and tended to be fairer and more trustworthy in all their dealings. It is worth reading.

WHEN I LEARNED last Tuesday that Democrats, breaking with past practice, had dropped the word "God" from their party platform, I dispatched message via Twitter: "God is mentioned in the 2004 Democratic platform 7 times. In the 2008 platform, once. In the 2012 platform, 0 times." I included a link to the National Journal story where I'd seen the details.
