Oh-oh, John. Please, please don't YOU predict any Republican wins, at the mid-terms. I do like your columns, though. I will say again, for my own part, I paid plenty in income taxes -- luckily -- all of my work years. I never got a "benefit," "entitlement" thingy. No inheritance, either. I also did the required military service. None of that bothered me a bit, still doesn't. And, so far, no DUI. Is this a great country, or what? I think I am in the majority, by a little bit.. I learned to not complain or blame others, just go play golf, and continue to ogle the girls.

Yeah, pay no attention while the Nazi's take your next door neighbors to the gas chambers. Your fine. They haven't come for you yet. But you're next.

Chris -- I spent five years of my life as an armed and dangerous Marine, ready to kill all comers, as ordered. How many years did you spend in that circumstance? If you're younger than me, do your duty, and leave my retirement to me. If my neighbors get taken away, it's on you, buddy. And, the "Nazi's" know better, than to come for me.

That's probably what they thought in Austria too. and the sudatenland.

It's your attitude that I'm pointing out. Not your ability to defend yourself. The attitude that you go along complacent about what the government is doing while things fall apart around you.

While we honor your service and won't deny you your retirement (social security) and certainly respect your bravery, there is the insidious Obamacare in your future and the national medical panel. Unless you're a President or congressman and exempt from the provisions, you may well face medical treatment denial and in paraphrasing Gen. MacArthur's words just fade away as you face what Palin rightly calls the death panel.

Hey, Chris, at age 75, I have completed all of my responsibilities. Your turn.

I guess that you have no heirs to worry about their future. You made it through, everyone else can go pound sand, right?

Jay -- my service years included two years of Reserve active duty, training other Marines to be able to fire a 105 howitzer round 7 miles and get it close. Thank you for noticing. What was your duty?

No, I was never fired upon by an enemy, like 90 % of us. Not my fault.

Rich - No, I have no heirs that I care about, including you. And, I already pounded my sand, you go pound yours.

E1776 - I am healthy. I dont need any stinking Obamacare, Medicare, or your care. Thank you very much. I don't mind dying, just to get away from y'all.. As we said, UMSC reallyy stands for is, " I got mine.., (fill in the blanks)."

1960-GOOD FOR YOU-I'm in your age group, but "retired" from mthe Military, Cvil Svc and "shivin a git". HANG TUFF

It’s been a year and half since the GOP and Democrats hammered out an agreement that raised the debt ceiling and put us on the lip of a fiscal cliff, threatening mutually assured destruction if a budget deal wasn’t worked out before January 2013.

It made sense for all sides at the time.

The GOP figured there was a good shot that Obama wasn’t going to be reelected. The Democrats figured there was a good chance shot Obama wasn’t going to be reelected. And Obama was content to do what he did best: run a campaign on TV, eat...
