John Ransom is fast becoming a favorite writer. I don't think all this Townhall stuff will have much effect, but most of it is nice reading. It didn't get anyone elected, sad to say, but as I've ended my four score and ten five years ago, it does give me smiles, while the sun sets on me, and America. Gawd, the best 75 years anybody ever had. Thanks to all, especially to those souls still stuck in the mud of Omaha Beach.

Holy cow 1960!. "I've ended my four score and ten five years ago," means you ended your four score and ten in 2007. 2007 minus 90 (fourscour and ten) means you were born in 1917 so you are now 95. Why did it take you until 1960, when you were 43, to become Republican? I am now 83 and voted Republican in 1952 (for Ike) when I was 23.

Late comer! Anyway, you are doing fine now!

That vote for Ike was cast by absentee in Tokyo. You know, that Korean police action.

I don't mean to be a weisenheimer but four score and ten is 90.

Roy, you have shown in 9 out of 10 posts, that weisenheimer is exactly what you are and mean to be. Are you so insecure that you get some sort of ego lift out of calling attention to meaningless trivialities? Try being kinder than necessary, because everybody, including you, is fighting some sort of battle. Your battle with inferiority can best be won by extending charitable and compassionate support, because those who do so invariably feel good about themselves.

Jeez, it's later than I think, I think.

Don’t worry, folks. All is well.

Barack Obama “gets” it.

"The president gets it," says the chief executive officer and chairman of Honeywell, in a Reuters article.

“David Cote, chief executive and chairman of Honeywell,” says Reuters, “told reporters that Obama understood a combination of tax measures and reforms of social programs will be necessary to address the so-called fiscal cliff and beyond that, the deficit.”

I’m really glad that Obama met with business leaders to straighten out that pesky “tax” thing that the rest of us have been so confused about. I’m equally comforted that the major wire services...
