The Van Jones Matter

For the record, Jones also allied himself with groups who said Bush had ordered troops to shoot black people in New Orleans, too. And the list goes on and on. As one who personally suffered the Rodney King riots and saw blacks attacking Koreans and burning and looting their businesses with their own ruthless brand of racism, Van Jones should still be in jail for that alone.

But mostly I think it's terribly naive to dismiss Communism as Krauthammer does. In fact, it's a far more pernicious force now in America than neo-Nazism (those are the relics of nativism) as we march toward socialism and that sort of cheap radicalism becomes "cool." Would we accept a neo-Nazi in the government? Why not, if its group is really the...

Private insurance will not survive: Read P16 Section 102 HR3200.

Abortion will be covered: Committees rejected no-abortion specifications, meaning the Senate language (no State shall deny women's "essential health services") shall prevail, and as the interpretation of Doe v Bolton means, abortion on demand.

Illegal aliens will be covered exactly as they are now: By going to hospitals, clinics and emergency rooms funded by everyone but them and not being denied treatment by law.

There are indeed death panels, no matter how petulant and loud Obama wants to declaim it: See the case of the late Barbara Wagner v. Oregon Health Plan. See also: Canada, Great Britain. All public plans means rationing; all rationing means...
By just being petulant and petty last night, the President lost the argument for good.

An interesting point about portability that even Ann hasn't raised: What happened to this wonderful Clinton Administration government program called COBRA? Could it be that everyone who has ever been offered COBRA (I have, twice)has quickly discovered it is an empty-handed gesture? (Here's the trick: The government forces private businesses to offer you the plan you were on, minus the company contribution, after you leave the company for up to 18 months. But it is always close to the costliest option. So making even a few phone calls you'll find that, minus the now missing company contribution, you can ALWAYS find a better, lower-cost deal on...

Demasculation of America's Boys

This weekend I was invited to join a family picnic of loosely associated relations (the products of divorce, remarriage and abandonment left only the insiders clear on who belonged to whom). Of a dozen boys, 8 to 13, only two of them wanted to play a loose game of softball, the activity chosen to go with the picnic.

When I talked to the boys about it, it was clear they never play baseball, and naturally didn't feel confident that they could. Eventually, all but a few were convinced to play. At the end of the game, encouraged that they'd hit the ball during the game, two boys stayed on the field with me to take a little hitting instruction. I underhand-pitched baseballs, not softballs, and taught them how to choke up on the bat...

Kyla, that we haven't heard a peep from the left over the U.S. government "loaning" $2 billion to the largest Latin American corporation, and seventh most profitable oil company in the world, Petrobras. Its business is off-shore and deep-ocean oil drilling, by the way. But Brazil has a leftist government and George Soros's hedge fund invested over $800 million in Petrobras in Q2. So there's a real payoff to a real scoundrel, but Halliburton/Cheney/blood for oil/Saudi royal family/green-garbage yaddayadda has been replaced by deafening silence. That's because green is the new red: Environmentalism is all about political control over our lives.

Yes, the late Michael Crichton predicted years ago in State of Fear that global-warming alarmists and their compliant comrades in the press would collude to shift from "global warming" to "abrupt climate change"--so that everything from tsunamis to cold sores could be attributed to man-made causes.

Suddenly, all these elitist leftists who think taking undergraduate courses at expensive schools makes them instant experts! (Little did I know that graduating college qualified me to condescend to others on everything from French to physics.) Ironically, their attitude demonstrates ignorance: For all the money they spent, they apparently weren't taught how to construct logical arguments, and for whatever reason they're sadly lacking in grace.

It was jaw dropping to hear leftist women of the punditocracy on TV last fall with the audacity to publicly say that Palin was not qualified because "let's face it," one smug fool said, she hadn't gone to "good" schools. Now Jonah's excellent points are demeaned because his college doesn't...
Ever since Comrade Obama was so sophomorically tickled by a townhall lady who expressed her skepticism about a health care takeover but insisted on leaving her Medicare alone, the new Democrat talking point (listen for it now) is a variation on "but you hicks love your Medicare, and that's government!"

That misses the point, which is why Dennis's column, especially point one, is so important. As much as Medicare is a disaster ($30 trillion unfunded liability, $27 trillion in fraud and counting) the fact is there is a vast difference between a society deciding that all of us will pay for the care of the retired elderly, and just another transfer payment from those who work or have more to able-bodied people who don't work or have...

MSNBC Exclusive: Fort Hood Never Happened!

It is sickening that the craven left thinks every terror plan thwarted would be beneath their vaunted master plots.

If the 9/11 attack had failed, nothing would have seemed more ridiculous than hitting the same target twice, using men already on watch lists, hijacking planes to fly them into buildings by using box cutters, and creepy Muslims asking for flying lessons but stipulating that learning to land is unnecessary. Or Jose Padilla--but for our leftist press, a name that would live in infamy--who with two thousand miles of unguarded Canadian border, tries to smuggle a dirty bomb past a RCMP?

The point here is that ALL terrorists plots seem stupid after they are discovered and foiled.
During one of his speeches he referred to what the Prophet "revealed." Well you don't say that unless you think Mohammed was an actual prophet, not a fraud.
