Damn this was the same stuff that they said in the 70s. There was rage and the setting of hair on fire then. What did it get us. Very efficient high horsepower engines. Time for round two. Same rage and setting of hair on fire. You idiots are so predictable.

The first CAFE standards in the 1970's brought us the wonderful Pinto, Vega, K-car, etc. By the way, how are mechanics going to be able to fix all the composite materials and suphisticated electronics which will be needed to meet the new standards?

We also got tiny cars that since I am six foot 4 are the most uncomfortable pos I have ever tried to get behind the wheel and drive. Don't tell me that larger vehicles will always be available because that is not going to be true and public transportation and riding a bike will not work either.
Off topic but here the electric company is highly promoting the new smart electric meters telling us that now we can control our electric usage from a computer anywhere. They will not tell you so can they control my powere usageage and that will be the next step . Baby steps toward more government control or as Cass Sunstein says a nudge.

When I drive them (as occassioned to assist others, I drive a Ford Windstar for myself), I get the driver's seat as far down as it will go and as far back as it will go. This usually makes the rear driver-side passenger seat unusable. Then, I have to work it just so to get my right knee past the steering wheel. When finally in possition, it is next to impossible to get the rear-view mirror adusted, as I have to scrunch down in the seat and tip my head in order to see out the windshield. It is d-a-m-n-e-d awkward, and these Lefies who think one size fits all are full of s-h-i-t! Perhaps their solution will be genetic modification to makes us all into midgets.

While all eyes were on the Republican National Convention in Tampa and Hurricane Isaac on the Gulf Coast, the White House was quietly jacking up the price of automobiles and putting future drivers at risk.

Yes, the same cast of fable-tellers who falsely accused GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney of murdering a steelworker's cancer-stricken wife is now directly imposing a draconian environmental regulation that will cost untold American lives.

On Tuesday, the administration announced that it had finalized "historic" new fuel efficiency standards. (Everything's "historic" with these narcissists, isn't it?) President Obama took a break from his historic...
