PAJU Korean Republic (south) 11/9/2009
1 of 301
A visitor takes pictures of a bullet-riddled steam locomotive named "Cheol Ma", meaning "Iron Horse", on display in front of the old Imjin River Bridge at Imjingak pavilion near the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) separating the two Koreas in Paju, about 52 km (32 miles) north of Seoul, November 9, 2009. According to local media, its last ride was on December 31, 1950 in the midst of the Korean War. Carrying military supplies for the allied forces of South Korea, it was departed to Shinuiju in North Korea but it would confront the Chinese army. South Korea and its allies blew it up to avoid it from being used by the North. The steam locomotive was left off the tracks without cars at Jangdan station in the demilitarized zone almost for 60 years and was placed at an exhibition site after restoration works. As a united Germany marks the 20th anniversary of the Berlin Wall's fall on Monday, about 1 million soldiers face off across the Cold War's last great divide -- the DMZ separating the two
