U.S. Forest Service fire crews lay hose north of Highway 50 in El Dorado County, Calif. on Tuesday, July 9, 2013. More than 800 personnel are working a wildland blaze today near Kyburz, Calif., that is 40 percent contained. Despite progress overnight, the fire burning near Kyburz in the Eldorado National Forest is still restricting travel through the Sierra on Highway 50. The California Department of Transportation is reporting today that one-way alternating controlled traffic is being let through on Highway 50 from about five miles east of Riverton to about 2 miles west of Kyburz near the wildland fire.
