Stanislaw Banach, right, and his wife Genowefa, talk to The Associated Press in their farmyard near Chlaniów, Poland, on Wednesday, June 19, 2013, about the attack on the village by the Nazi SS-led Ukrainian Self Defense Legion in 1944, in which Banach's father and 43 other villagers were killed. An investigation by the AP revealed that a commander in the legion, Michael Karkoc, 94, is living in the United States. In his Ukrainian-language memoirs Karkoc said he was in Chlaniów at the time of the attack. No records uncovered by the AP link him directly to atrocities. (AP Photo/Czarek Sokolowski)
