Archaeologists from the nonprofit LAMAR Institute say musket balls, rifle parts and other items they found point to the location of Carr’s Fort, a small frontier outpost in Wilkes County, Ga., where patriot militiamen turned back British loyalist fighters in a short but violent gun battle in February 1779.
