In this Tuesday, March 12, 2013 photo, embroiderers and tailors sew costumes for an operetta about Iraq's culture and history, at the state-run Iraq Fashion House in Baghdad. Ten years after the bombs began falling on Iraq, the capital Baghdad is gearing up to host a yearlong cultural extravaganza that organizers hope will quicken the pulse of the city’s ailing cultural life. The city’s designation as this year’s Arab Capital of Culture is also seen as an opportunity to paint a picture of a city of history and hope, and rub out images of death and hatred.
