In this Sept. 8, 2012 photo, Shahad Abdul-Amir Abbas, born May 21, 1991, teaches orphans in Baghdad, Iraq. Now in her first year in the University of Medicine, she lost her father in sectarian killings a few years ago and now volunteers to help orphans at her mother's orphanage. Deadly violence is common, jobs are scarce and education is a luxury, but a cross-section of teenagers and young adults say they are unwilling to give up on Iraq.(AP Photo/ Karim Kadim)
