The St. Joseph Parish in Providence, Rhode Island, founded the Louverture Cleary school in 1987 to provide a free, top-notch education to smart children from modest means. In the years since, the Roman Catholic mission school has notched an impressive success rate, with 98 percent of Louveture Cleary students passing their national high school exam, compared to the national average of 30 percent.
