In this Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012 photo, Free Syrian Army fighters are seen in a storage room in the Karmal Jabl district of Aleppo, Syria. Most rebels in Aleppo wear beards, a hallmark of religious piety, and their conversation is filled with verses from the Quran or sayings attributed to the Prophet Muhammad. They frame the fight in a religious context, speak of martyrdom as something they wish and look for. They may be tempted at a later stage to force their own version of Islam which is, while not militant, is more fundamentalist than what is found in the city. Their anger or frustration over what they see as the betrayal of the city's business class may prompt them to seek ways of distributing wealth more fairly. (AP Photo/ Manu Brabo)
