FILE - This Feb. 28, 2006 file photo shows hip hop DJ pioneer Afrika Bambaataa speaking at a news conference to launch "Hip-Hop Won't Stop: The Beat, The Rhymes, The Life," the first ever hip-hop initiative at the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History in New York. Bambaataa has been appointed to a three-year term as a visiting scholar at Cornell University. The appointment announced Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, was made by Cornell University Library's Hip Hop Collection in conjunction with the Ivy League school's music department.
