Since LAPD Olympic Station opened in January 2009 covering 6.2 square miles of Koreatown, Los Angeles, the area has seen a significant drop in crimes. This April 29 will mark the 20th anniversary of the riots following the acquittal of four Los Angeles Police officers in the videotaped beating of motorist Rodney King, which resulted in 53 deaths and an estimated $1 billion in damage.
