REFILE - CORRECTING YEAR
Van Mitchell, principal of Colonial High School in Orlando, Florida stands outside his school January 15, 2009. He said he used to visit 25 classrooms every school day but has gone missing from most since his operating budget was cut 6 percent. Mitchell is a long-time administrator of the 3,800-student school. Because of America's 13-month-old recession, which made itself felt earlier in Florida, Mitchell has had to cut staff, share out extra work, and stick to his office. Now, Mitchell said, he's lucky if he visits 12 classes a day at Colonial. REUTERS/Phelan Ebenhack (UNITED STATES)
