Police say a 51-year-old German man has been charged with sexually abusing minors in Thailand.
Germany's Federal Criminal Police Office said Tuesday the man is charged with "grave sexual abuse" of children aged between four and nine in Thailand's Pattaya resort city since 2007. He is also accused of filming the sexual acts and sharing the videos with others.
Agency president Joerg Ziercke says the case send a strong signal against sex tourism and shows that police is chasing Germans who sexually abuse minors regardless of whether the crime has been committed abroad or at home.
Police say the suspect, whose name was not disclosed, had to hand in his passport but is currently free on bail awaiting his trial at the Moenchengladbach state court.
