(Reuters) - The Afghan interior minister survived an assassination attempt in Parwan province north of Kabul on Sunday, a spokesman for the provincial governor said.

The minister's bodyguards shot dead a would-be suicide bomber who approached him while he had broken a journey in order to pray, the spokesman said.
