Tsunami's devastation: Numbers tell the tale

On Dec. 26, 2004, a massive undersea earthquake off Indonesia triggered a tsunami that killed 230,000 people in 14 Asian and African countries.
The quake:
_ Unleashed energy equivalent to 550 million Hiroshima atomic explosions.
_ Left more than 1.7 million homeless
_ Caused damage estimated at $10 billion.
_ Drew more than $13 billion in international aid. More than 700 groups aided reconstruction in Indonesia's Aceh province, the hardest-hit area.

_ Houses rebuilt: 140,000.
