What do you think of John McCain's selection of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate?

Wet weather made for a miserable commute for many along the East Coast early Monday, while most of the West and Midwest were to stay dry and warm.

Wet weather was to persist throughout the morning hours along the East Coast and storms will stubbornly stick around into the night in the Southeast. Strong thunderstorms will continue to drop torrential rains across Florida.

Like Florida, the Gulf Coast will receive rain as thunderstorms rumble across the South. The storms will be enhanced by the tail end of the East Coast storms.

In the Plains, temperatures were expected to be sweltering, with highs reaching well into the 90s across the nation's heartland. Warm weather was anticipated in the Northeast as well, with highs climbing into the high 80s as far north as Maine.

The Southwest will continue to see clouds and thunderstorms popping up around the Four Corners region. Southern California will also have wet weather and more landslides could come to the region, especially in areas that have not recovered from damage caused by wildfires in recent years.

Northern California and the Northwest were to see beautiful conditions Monday. Clear skies and warm temperatures were to spread across the interior, but portions of the coast will continue to see morning fog, keeping temperatures cooler.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states on Sunday ranged from a low of 29 degrees at Stanley, Idaho, to a high of 105 degrees at Thermal, Calif.
