PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Police in Philadelphia have arrested a 22-year-old man in the killing of a city art school graduate whose body was discovered in a duffel bag.
They say robbery was the apparent motive.
The suspect, Jeremiah Jakson, is charged with murder, robbery and other counts in the death of 23-year-old Laura Araujo.
Authorities say she was beaten and strangled, and her hands and feet bound, before being stuffed in a duffel bag that was found in a vacant lot Monday.
Police say the victim had just moved into a rooming house where Jakson was also living. They say she apparently had a previous encounter with him that had made her uncomfortable and was in the process of moving out.
