NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — Yale University produces Nobel Prize winners, Supreme Court justices and presidents. A nearby nightclub called Toad's Place has landed musical legends such as the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan and U2.
But Yale and Toads can't find what they're looking for in a property dispute after years of fighting. The popular hangout could close if Toad's can't get any satisfaction.
The dispute involves a walkway that Toad's says it needs access to from its side entrance for emergency purposes. Yale proposed a 10-year arrangement granting access.
Toad's says a temporary arrangement won't work. Toad's disputes the property line and contends it has rights to the walkway after so many years of using it.
Yale denies it's trying to close Toad's but it accuses Toad's of trespassing in a lawsuit.
