MIAMI (AP) — A 13-year-old girl was shot on a Miami-area school bus Tuesday morning and airlifted to a hospital.
Miami-Dade Police were investigating Tuesday's shooting on a bus for a charter school, the Somerset Academy Silver Palms.
Police Det. Alvaro Zabaleta said investigators were questioning a male about the shooting, but it was unclear if he was a student.
The victim's condition was not known.
Concerned parents gathered at the scene, which was cordoned off by crime scene tape. It's unclear how many students were on the bus at the time of the shooting.
School officials say the principal walked to each classroom to check on students after learning about the shooting and that everything was fine. Grief counselors were on their way to the charter school.
