NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Federal officials in New Jersey have accused two people with trying to smuggle sensitive U.S. military technology to China.The U.S. Attorney's Office on Wednesday announced the charges against two Taiwanese nationals who were arrested last month as part of an investigation into a counterfeit goods smuggling ring.Hui Sheng Shen, nicknamed "Charlie," and Huan Ling Chang, also known as "Alice," are accused of trying to smuggle military technology out of the U.S. and into China.Undercover federal agents say the two sought items including unmanned aerial vehicles, or drones, as well as stealth technology used in airplanes.They were already charged with smuggling methamphetamine into the U.S.They are scheduled to be arraigned on the new charges in Newark Wednesday afternoon.
