WASHINGTON (AP) — The wife of an American imprisoned in Cuba since December 2009 after bringing communications equipment onto the island says her husband wanted reassurance what he was doing was legal but was told not to contact Cuban officials to ask.Judy Gross made the statement in an interview Monday. Saturday will mark two years since husband Alan Gross was arrested. The former Maryland resident's case has become a sticking point in U.S. talks with Cuba. The two do not have diplomatic relations.Gross told The Associated Press her husband believed he was duped by the company he was working for, Maryland-based Development Alternatives Inc. She says DAI refused to contact Cuban officials, as he requested, to ensure his actions were legal.A company spokesman disputed the characterization that Gross was duped.
