SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Teachers in the San Francisco Bay area are protesting an education conference that features News Corp. CEO Rupert Murdoch as a keynote speaker.More than 100 demonstrators picketed Thursday outside the San Francisco hotel hosting the National Summit on Education Reform. The teachers were joined by activists from the Occupy Wall Street movement.The two-day conference is organized by the Foundation for Excellence in Education, which is chaired by former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush. The organization champions school vouchers, charter schools and performance pay for teachers.The demonstrators say Murdoch and other business leaders are seeking to profit from school reforms discussed at the conference. News Corp. last year acquired a company that provides software and services to K-12 schools.Murdoch is scheduled to speak at the conference Friday.
