U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio will co-teach four classes about politics at Florida International University when the Senate is not in session.
His spokesman says the senator will co-teach four classes on Mondays and Fridays, along with two other FIU professors. He began teaching in May.
Rubio will earn $24,000 a year, under the limit senators are allowed for outside work.
Rubio taught a similar course part-time from 2008 to 2010, for which he earned $69,000 a year. He faced some criticism at the time for the salary, as the school faced a budget shortfall and the job had not been publicly advertised.
Rubio delivered FIU's commencement speech on Friday.
