CHICAGO (Reuters) - At least one person was shot at a middle school in Martinsville, Indiana on Friday, and a suspect was in custody, police said.

The male victim was a student at Martinsville West Middle School. He was taken by helicopter to Indianapolis, said a Morgan County Sheriff's Department dispatcher.

The shooting happened around 7 a.m. local time, he said.

Local media reported that the victim was shot twice in the stomach and that police were searching for an accomplice to the shooter.

"Right now I can't confirm or deny it. I know they're questioning and speaking with several students," the sheriff's dispatcher said.

School officials declined to give further information.
