Republican Ohio Gov. John Kasich (KAY'-sihk) has taken a second oath of office before a crowd of thousands.
The 58-year-old Kasich and Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor were sworn in ceremonially at the event Monday at the Ohio Theatre in downtown Columbus.
In a speech at the event, Kasich said he will rely on God, his family and the friends who have carried him through the years to do his best for the state.
On hand were dignitaries including U.S. House Speaker John Boehner (BAY'-nur) of Ohio, GOP U.S. Sen. Rob Portman; former Republican Gov. Bob Taft; and zookeeper and TV host Jack Hanna from the Columbus Zoo.
Kasich was officially sworn in just after midnight on Monday. He met briefly with his staff and Cabinet afterward.
