NEW ORLEANS, La. (AP) _ Louisiana State Police say at least five people have been killed and at least 10 more taken to the hospital in critical condition after a two-car accident on Interstate 10 just east of Baton Rouge.
State police spokesman Doug Cain said two vehicles were traveling side-by-side in the west bound lane of the interstate Saturday morning when a tire apparently blew out on a mini van carrying 15 people.
The van and a delivery truck collided and crashed into the east bound lanes. The mini van rolled over several times.
Cain says I-10 east was completely shut down at midday.
