LOS ANGELES (AP) — A police watchdog says he found problems in a third of the internal investigations of Los Angeles police officers accused of racial profiling and other kinds of bias. The Police Commission's inspector general said Tuesday that investigators did not interview witnesses, made mistakes or failed to ask important questions in six of the 20 cases examined.Inspector General Andre Birotte's report says some supervisors made decisions not to discipline officers that were not supported by the investigations or based on incomplete probes.Internal affairs officials admit that mistakes were made, but say the errors did not affect the outcome of the investigations. The LAPD changed how it investigates claims of bias last spring, but the cases reviewed concluded after those changes went into effect.___Information from: Los Angeles Times,
