TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Florida State cornerback and return specialist Greg Reid no longer is facing resisting arrest and perjury charges.State Attorney Willie Meggs dropped the charges Wednesday.Reid had been accused of lying to police to protect a friend from his hometown of Valdosta, Ga.Police stopped the friend while he was driving Reid's scooter because it didn't have a license plate. The friend, Rontrel Frazier, didn't have a driver license and escaped from the officers before they could identify him.Meggs said when officers later questioned Reid about the driver's identity he was less than forthcoming. The prosecutor, though, said by that time police already knew it was Frazier. Therefore, they didn't really need any information from Reid.
