Rebecca Soni of the United States has broken the short-course world record in the 200-meter breaststroke.
The Olympic champion clocked 2 minutes, 14.57 seconds in the win at the Duel in the Pool on Friday, breaking the 2:15.42 set by Leisel Jones of Australia in Berlin in November.
Soni was wearing one of the high-tech suits that will be outlawed on Jan. 1.
The American swimmers are competing against a European all-star team at the meet in Manchester, England.
