Allison Hightower scored 12 points, LaSondra Barrett added 10 points and seven rebounds and fifth-ranked LSU cruised past North Carolina A&T 75-33 on Wednesday night in the championship game of the inaugural Sue Gunter Classic.
LSU (9-0) is off to its best start since opening 14-0 in the 2005-06 season.
Hightower, who had 10 points Tuesday in her tournament opener, reached that mark midway through the first half Wednesday. Meanwhile, LSU's defense shut down a North Carolina A&T offense that scored 95 points one night earlier.
The Aggies (4-5) missed 21 of their first 22 shots, trailed 38-10 at halftime and never got closer than 23 points in the second half as LSU went most of the way with its reserves.
The Lady Tigers allowed just 64 combined points in two games to win their own tournament.
Hightower was selected tournament MVP.
