Texas president Nolan Ryan says the outcome of the Rangers sale will likely determine whether he stays with the team.
Ryan has partnered with the Pittsburgh attorney Chuck Greenberg in a bid to buy the team. Another finalist in the process is a group led by former sports agent Dennis Gilbert.
Ryan said at the winter meetings this week that he wouldn't work for Gilbert if his group won and the former agent was running the daily operations of the team.
Ryan said on Friday that he has since spoken with Gilbert. The Hall of Fame pitcher says he will wait and see what happens, but doesn't anticipate that he'd stay in a lesser role after two seasons running the Rangers.
