This week's Bible study is adapted from the YOU! curriculum.

Bible Passages: Psalm 19:14; Matthew 12:33-37; Ephesians 4:29

Discussion Questions:

In what situations do you struggle most with using your words wisely?

If you could take back one thing you've said recently, what would it be?

Food for Thought:

Talk isn't cheap. Our society abounds with casualties from people who have shot off at the mouth. Careless words represent more than just sounds formed by our lips; they reveal what is in our hearts.

Consider Day 1 of "The Love Dare" from the motion picture "Fireproof": "Although love is communicated in a number of ways, our words often reflect the condition of our heart. For the next day, resolve to demonstrate patience and to say nothing negative to your spouse at all. If the temptation arises, choose not to say anything. It's better to hold your tongue than to say something you'll regret."

The YOU! curriculum, intentionally focused on urban and multicultural believers, is biblically based with culturally relevant lessons to help people connect, grow, serve and ultimately be engaged in impacting the world for God. This flexible quarterly resource offers weekly Bible study for leaders and learners, devotionals and teaching plans as well as articles on hot topics and missions.
