It was the third straight monthly reading above 50, a level that indicates an expansion of manufacturing activity. A parallel purchasing managers’ index for the non-manufacturing sector, which covers construction and services, rose to 52.2 up from 50 in November.

President Trump is heaping blame on OPEC for the ongoing Ukraine-Russia war. During a speech to leaders at a global summit, the president said the OPEC+ alliance of oil exporting countries has kept the price of oil too high. Oil sales are the economic engine driving Moscow’s economy. The president said he hopes to meet with Russia’s Vladmir Putin soon “and get that war ended.”

WASHINGTON (AP) – The Senate is heading towards a vote on confirming South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem as homeland security secretary. Correspondent Bernie Bennett has more on this story.
VERBATIM: It would place her at the head of a sprawling agency that will be essential to both national security and President Donald Trump’s plans to squash illegal immigration.
Republicans were determined to barrel through on Noem’s confirmation, threatening to keep the Senate working through the weekend to install Trump’s national security Cabinet officials.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth won confirmation Friday night, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio and CIA Director John Ratcliffe were already in place.

A new Muslim terrorist group is operating in Nigeria
VERBATIM: The African country is already beset with TWO such organizations — Boko Haram and the Fulani herdsmen — and now Lakurawa has arrived. It’s not actually a new group — it has been terrorizing neighboring Mali and Niger for a number of years. But now Lakurawa has set its sights on Nigeria, killing numerous Christians in the country’s troubled northern region. Tens-of-thousands of believers have died at the hands Islamic terrorists over the last decade. MH SRN NEWS.
