Another fighter jet mishap on the USS Harry S. Truman
More trouble for the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier. An F/A-18 fighter jet landing on the Truman in the Red Sea went overboard, forcing its two pilots to eject. They were later rescued by a helicopter and suffered minor injuries. The incident marks the latest mishap to mar the deployment of the Truman. Last month, another fighter jet slipped off the hangar deck of the Truman. The F/A-18s cost about 60 million dollars apiece.

Senate Votes To Block California Gas-Powered Car Ban
The Senate has voted to block California’s first-in-the nation rule banning the sale of new gas-powered cars by 2035. The resolution is one of three expected to pass Congress and be signed by President Trump aimed at blocking California’s emissions rules that critics say have undue influence over the country.. California makes up roughly 11% of the U.S. car market, giving it significant power to shape purchasing trends..and therefore the way vehicles are made and sold around the country. California Gov. Gavin Newsom and state air regulators say that what Congress is doing is illegal and they will likely sue to keep the rules in place.

Canada Wildfires Send Smoke to the U.S.
Thousands of residents in Canada have been evacuated due to dozens of active wildfires that are also diminishing air quality in parts of the U.S. Bernie Bennett has this report.
VERBATIM: As of Sunday afternoon, swaths of North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa were experiencing “unhealthy” air quality levels, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s AirNow page.
At the “unhealthy” level, the EPA warns that some may experience health effects, while those who are considered more sensitive – children, the elderly, those who are pregnant, and those with health complications – may experience more serious health effects.
The EPA’s AirNow page forecast for Monday suggests the smoke could move slightly east, bringing a greater impact to much of Minnesota and Wisconsin and the northern portion of Iowa. Air quality could drop to “unhealthy for sensitive groups” in those areas.

America’s pastors are staying put
America’s pastors are staying put
VERBATIM: LifeWay Research has been looking at the data and concludes that only about one-in-100 of the country’s Protestant clergymen leave the ministry in any given year. Just 1.2% of pastors left their job last year — not counting those who retired or passed away. That’s about the same as 2015 when 1.3 of them quit. Clergymen are under more pressure these days and have to fill more roles than ever before, but that doesn’t seem to be driving them away. MH SRNN NEWS
