Judge finds probable cause to hold administration in contempt

A federal judge finds probable cause to hold the Trump administration in contempt for violating his deportation order. Last month, the Trump administration failed to return two deportation flights after the judge ordered the planes be turned around. U.S. District Judge James Boasberg said “the Constitution does not tolerate willful disobedience of judicial orders ” and he could refer the matter for prosecution. He said the administration could “purge” its contempt by returning the deportees from El Salvador. But the White House responded by saying it will “seek immediate appellate relief.” GC, Wash.

Poll: 23% Approve Of Schumer, 51% Unfavorable

For the second time this week a new poll show’s declining popularity for Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer [D-NY]. Only 23% of  of respondents to a poll by The Economist/YouGov say they approve of the job Schumer’s doing. 51% said they have an unfavorable view. Schumer’s popularity has seen a steady decline so far during President Trumps 2nd term.Earlier this week a Marist poll showed more than half of New Yorkers believe it’s time for the 74 year old Schumer to step down from his leadership post and hand it over to another Democrat.

House GOP Won’t Take Up DC Funding Bill

House GOP leaders won’t bring up the District of Columbia funding fix bill on the floor this week. Details from reporter Bernie Bennett.

VERBATIM: Speaker Mike Johnson and District of Columbia Mayor Muriel Bowser spoke Monday on a call to discuss a path forward on legislation to restore the capital city’s full spending powers, according to one person granted anonymity to share details of the private conversation.

Still, there are no plans to bring the bill to the House floor in the coming days before the chamber leaves for a two-week recess.

President Donald Trump says that he wants the House to take up the funding fix, saying the chamber should vote on it “IMMEDIATELY” to “clean up our once beautiful Capital City, and make it beautiful again.”

Arkansas strikes a blow for religious freedom

VERBATIM:  Republican Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has signed a bill that will allow Christian adoption and foster care agencies to place children ONLY with heterosexual couples.  In other states the government won’t do business with any agency that refuses to place kids with homosexuals and Arkansas is taking a stand against that.  Alliance Defending Freedom says Arkansas is to be commended adding “Every child deserves a loving home that can provide them stability.”  MH SRN NEWS
