A partial government shutdown is looming at week’s end
House Speaker Mike Johnson is looking to schedule a vote tomorrow (TUE) on the 99-page bill, with a view to Democrats responsible for a potential partial government shutdown. He’ll again need total GOP support to thread the needle. Congress must act by Friday midnight. when the current continuing resolution expires. House Republicans unveiled a spending bill Saturday that would keep federal agencies funded through September 30th. Trump praised the bill, posting on his Truth Social platform that Republicans have to “remain UNITED — NO DISSENT —.”

White House condemns Tesla vandalism, violence
The White House condemns the spate of violent attacks against Tesla vehicles and property. Tesla is owned by Trump adviser Elon Musk and, recently, showrooms, vehicle lots, charging stations, and even privately owned cars have been vandalized. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt points out that many Tesla drivers are Democrats, who she says were big supporters of Tesla and of electric vehicles until Musk decided to vote for Donald Trump.

VERBATIM: Interim District of Columbia U.S. Attorney Ed Martin said the “Special Unit: Election Accountability” has already opened one investigation and that it “will continue to make sure that all the election laws of our nation are obeyed,” according to the email reviewed by media. Martin was involved in the “Stop the Steal” movement after President Trump lost the 2020 election to former President Joe Biden.
The Trump administration had been expected to shift the Justice Department’s priorities around investigating voting and elections. The agency has historically targeted voter suppression efforts and state laws that could disenfranchise certain groups, but conservatives have called for an increased focus on voter fraud.
