Sarah Palin was a surprise guest at a Tea Party Express rally that drew about 1,000 people to the Arizona Capitol.
The former GOP vice presidential candidate spoke Friday for only a couple minutes on a stage as she held son Trig on one hip and clutched a sign that read "Party like it's 1773!"
She urged the crowd to put America back in the hands of common-sense conservatives and said that "We can see Nov. 2 from our house."
The rally was the tea party's latest stop on a national tour capitalizing on government discontent.
Organizers sent out a note earlier in the day saying the rally would have a special guest, but didn't name that person.
