President Barack Obama meets Wednesday at the White House with recently installed Consumer Product Safety Commission Chairwoman Inez Tenenbaum.
Tenenbaum has promised a more vigorous enforcement approach at the agency. On Tuesday the CPSC joined the window-covering industry in recalling some 50 million Roman-style shades and roll-up blinds because of a safety hazard for children.
Obama also meets separately with Peace Corps Director Aaron Williams and NASA administrator Charles Bolden. Obama is considering a special White House panel's recommendations on the future of the nation's troubled space exploration programs.
Obama and first lady Michelle Obama host a Hanukkah reception in the evening.
