Dozens of exhibitions in southern California opened last year.At Berlin's Martin-Gropius-Bau, curators have brought together more than 70 works by over 50 artists. Well-known and boldly colorful works by David Hockney and Ed Ruscha are joined by ceramic sculptures from John Mason and others and 1970s works exploring the process of art.The Berlin museum's former director Peter-Klaus Schuster described it Wednesday as "the temporary national gallery of southern California art."
