Hewlett-Packard Co. and Dell Inc. are both reporting quarterly results next week. They are the top two PC makers in the U.S.
HP already said it will take a massive charge against its earnings for the latest quarter, leading to a record loss of nearly $9 billion.
It comes as the maker of personal computers struggles to compete with mobile devices. Overall PC shipments declined in the U.S. in the second quarter, while worldwide shipments were nearly flat.
Dell's earnings comes Tuesday and HP's on Wednesday.
According to IDC, these are the top 5 PC manufacturers in second quarter of 2012. The numbers are estimates and do not reflect figures disclosed by the company after IDC's report came out July 11.
