Traders pushed shares higher Tuesday afternoon after minutes from the latest Federal Reserve meeting kept hope alive that the central bank would take more action to stimulate the economy.
The Dow Jones industrial average rose 10.06, or .09 percent, to 11,020.40.
The Standard & Poor's 500 index rose 4.45, or 0.38 percent, to 1,169.77.
The Nasdaq composite index rose 15.59, or 0.6 percent, to 2,417.92.
For the week:
The Dow is up 13.92, or 0.1 percent.
The S&P is up 4.62, or 0.4 percent.
The Nasdaq is up 16.01, or 0.7 percent.
For the year:
The Dow is up 592.35, or 5.7 percent.
The S&P is up 54.67, or 4.9 percent.
The Nasdaq is up 148.77, or 6.6 percent.
