WHEAT UP: Wheat futures rose 8.75 cents to settle at $7.04 a bushel. Investors have been concerned that hot weather in the U.S. and a drought in Russia could threaten this year's crops.
ENERGY BOOST: Prices for crude and other energy contracts rose on renewed optimism about the economy. Crude oil rose $1.09 to finish at $92.57 per barrel.
MIXED METALS: Gold and silver edged lower while other metals rose. June gold fell $3.20 to $1,588.70 an ounce. July gained 3.35 cents to $3.502 per pound.
