Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman will appear before the Legislature's Revenue Committee on Thursday.
He plans to testify in favor of a bill (LB 970) that would reduce three separate taxes.
The proposal would lower individual state income taxes and corporate income taxes. It also would end the inheritance tax, which is imposed on beneficiaries when a person dies.
The governor says Nebraska has made significant progress in terms of taxes, but Nebraskans are still taxed too much.
He says some will argue that the state can't afford tax relief. But the governor says the state can't afford to miss an opportunity to help hard-working Nebraskans.
